Albania’s AB-01 Energji seeks permit to build small HPP near Elbasan
, NewsAlbania’s energy ministry said on Wednesday it has received an application for a building permit for a small hydro power plant from local company AB-01 Energji.
The company plans to build a power plant of up to 2 MW on a tributary of the Devoll river near the city of Elbasan, in central Albania, the energy ministry said in a statement.
Last week, the energy ministry received three applications for building permits for HPPs with installed capacity of up to 2 MW each on the Drin river branches, in the northern part of the country.
Albania produces 98% of its electricity from HPPs, most of it from three power plants along the Drin river.
