Bosnia and Herzegovina against hydropower plants in Republika Srpska

, News

The joint statement on the realization of the HES “Gornja Drina” project, with the personal signatures of the Prime Ministers of Serbia and Srpska, implies the construction of three hydroelectric power plants (Buk Bijela, Foca and Paunci) which will form the future hydropower system “Gornja Drina”, and the first would be “Buk Bijela”. Prime Minister Brnabic said that this was the first of two strategic joint projects of Srpska and Serbia this year and next, and that for the second, the construction of the airport in Trebinje, Serbia would allocate 30 million euros from the budget by the end of the year.

While completely ignoring the reactions coming from Sarajevo, Republika Srpska officials say they have every right to dispose of resources on their territory and that there are no legal obstacles, and that relations between Srpska and Serbia have never been stronger.

That (disposal of resources) will not be forbidden by anyone, especially Bakir Izetbegović and Željko Komšić, said Radovan Kovačević, advisor to the Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH, emphasizing that their efforts, as long as Serbia is united and strong, will be in vain.

In a statement for RTRS, Kovacevic expressed astonishment that political Sarajevo, even after 25 years since the formation of Dayton BiH, cannot come to terms with the undeniable fact that the Republika Srpska exists and has its rights. “We will give them another 25 years, and an eternity to accept that Serbia is an unchangeable category and that it has all the rights that are guaranteed by the Dayton Agreement and the BiH Constitution,” he said.
