Bosnia’s HET opens tender for construction, financing of HPP Dabar project

Bosnia’s state-owned hydro power producer Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici said it is inviting expressions of interest in the construction and financing of the 160 MW Dabar hydro power plant – a project valued at 200 million euro ($231.6 million).

The public call for expressions of interest encompasses the construction of a dam with embankments and an accumulation basin, a surge tank, a machine house, two 200 kV transmission lines and a drainage channel, HET said in a procurement notice posted on its website earlier this week.

HPP Dabar, whose sole owner is HET, previously finished all the preparatory works, compiled the main project, the feasibility study and the study of economic eligibility. Works on the construction on inlet tunnels are currently ongoing.

The company added that the preferred model of financing is a monetary loan with a 15-year repayment period and a four-year grace. The project partner is expected to provide 85% or more of the financing, while HPP Dabar will provide up to 15%.

HET added that HPP Dabar will remain in its sole possession following the construction which will last four years.

The deadline for submitting letters of interest is July 20.

Last year, Bosnia’s Foreign Investment Promotion Agency said China’s Dongfang Electric Corporation was interested in HPP Dabar’s construction.
