EFT Rudnik i Termoelektrana Stanari, an EFT Group company, said on Tuesday it will officially launch Bosnia’s 300 MW Stanari thermal power plant on September 20.
The ceremony will mark the completion of works on the TPP, which began in 2012, the company that developed the project said in a statement.
In May, Stanari TPP obtained a one-year temporary operating license from the environment ministry of the Serb Republic, following which it began delivering electricity to the Bosnian entity’s grid at full capacity.
EFT was awarded a concession contract to develop the Stanari TPP in 2008. The total value of the undertaking is estimated at over 560 million euro. The main building contractor is China’s Dongfang.
The power station will have an annual output of 2,000 GWh with annual coal consumption planned at 2.3 million tonnes, EFT said earlier.
The Stanari coal basin is situated some 70 km east of Banja Luka, in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. EFT has been operating the mine since May 2005.
UK-based EFT Group is an energy trading and investment group, focused on Western, Central and Southeast Europe.
