Bulgaria; CEZ Razpredelenie with nomination for European Business Awards with a Bird Protection Project
, NewsCEZ Razpredelenie Bulgaria received a nomination in the annual 2018 edition of the European Business Awards with a Bird Protection Project, the energy company said. The European Commission will award projects to companies that have made significant contributions to sustainable development. “Life for birds” competes in the category “Business and Biodiversity”.
Within the framework of the project, CEZ Distribution, with the assistance of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds, will establish mechanisms to preserve the life of birds and provide opportunities for safe breeding after identifying the risk areas. The company will install 4,000 safety and 3600 risk-rating equipment and will install 900 platforms to raise stork nests. A prototype for a birds-safe pillar will also be created.
The preservation of biodiversity is at the heart of the idea of the project, which is highly valued at the European level and receives funding of EUR 1.83 million under the European Union’s LIFE program, which provides funds for environmental and nature conservation projects . CEZ Razpredelenie co-financed the project with 820 thousand euros.
