Change For Albania-Kosovo Transmission Line Loan
, NewsThe government wants to change the loan agreement for Albania-Kosovo 400 kilovolt transmission line, aiming to postpone the disbursement deadline by KfW until 30 December 2018.
The purpose of this extension is the realization of a component of this project that has to do with the expansion of the 400 kV substation of Koman HPP.
This investment was added to the project and it was slated to be funded through the remaining unused funds of the total loan of 42m euros after the completion of the investments envisaged in this line.
The 400 kV extension of the HPP Koman substation is a project that is of great importance and is expected to have a positive impact on the transmission system, while in principle KfW has also agreed to postpone the current disbursement deadline, which is 31 May 2018.
The 400 kV Albania-Kosovo line has a total length of 242 km and, from the geographical point of view, passes through Drin valley and near the HPP of the cascade of this river.
Under these conditions, the Koman hydropower connection with this line, which will be realized precisely by implementing the 400 kV extension of the HPP Koman substation, was considered efficient.
This project consisted in the optimum utilization of the 400 kV and 220 kV network by balancing the power flows and will provide the possibility of direct connection to the 400 kV network of the two aggregates in Koman HPP.
Also, investment will lead to reduction of power losses, especially in the 220 kV network, where they are quite high.
Already the draft law on changing the terms of the loan between the Ministry of Finance, Transmission System Operator and KfW has arrived at the Assembly, and is expected to be discussed in parliamentary committees.
