European Union Research Project Workshop in Mineco’s Gross mine in Bosnia
, NewsMineco are hosting the annual workshop of the “IMPACT” Horizon 2020 European research & innovation project at its Gross mine near Srebrenica. The workshop brings together some 30 leading academics and industry specialists from across Europe, including attendees from universities in Finland, German, France and the United Kingdom. The IMPACT project, which has received €7m of grant funding, use technological innovation to develop a new and quicker way to open mines. By doing so this will increase Europe’s ability to swiftly react to market challenges and better secure access to the critical raw materials required for European manufacturing industries.
At the workshop today the team are finalising the preparation of the deployment of the IMPACT modular, mobile processing technology to Mineco’s Olovo mine in September.
Gross mine in Srebrenica is the largest of Mineco’s five operating mines, employing 527 personnel and mining 400,000 tons of lead & zinc ore per year. Also in Bosnia Mineco opened the Olovo mine earlier this year. In Serbia Mineco operates the Rudnik Rudnik, Veliki Majdan and Bosilegrad mines.
