Investment in Wind in Serbia Could Hit EUR 1 Billion

, News

Following the Serbian Government’s adoption of a regulation on encouraging the production of electricity from renewable sources as well as high efficiency cogeneration, which removed barriers to investment, investment into wind power in the country could hit EUR 1 billion.

In 2017 construction of wind power plants is planned near Kovin, in Plandište, Kovačici and Vršac.
The first 158 MW wind power plant, Čibuk, will be constructed in the town of Kovin.

The plant is worth EUR 290 million and the construction is scheduled for spring 2017.

“Now that the Regulation has been adopted we have to turn to the banks”
