Kosovo gains independence in energy sector
, NewsEconomy Minister Rozeta Hajdari announced that the process of voting on a new agreement on the connection of the Transmission System Operator of Kosovo and the Kosovo Electricity Market (KOSTT) and the European Energy Network of Electricity Operators (ENTSO) has been completed and that Kosovo has gained energy independence.
“Today’s vote and the subsequent signing of a new connection agreement between KOSTT and ENTSO, KOSTT and Kosovo’s energy independence have been on the radio for several years,” Hajdari quoted on Facebook as saying.
It added a new agreement to approve Continental Europe Regional Group.
Among the first to congratulate Kosovo was German Ambassador Christian Held via Twitter: “With today’s vote of all European operating systems on European energy grids, KOSTT will be an independent control area,” said Held adding that it is a major contributor to regional cohesion.
Kosovo Transmission System Operator and Kosovo Electricity Market Operator and Transmission System Operator Albania (TSO) signed an agreement last December in Tirana on establishing a regulatory block for the Kosovo and Albanian energy system. Serbia and Kosovo signed an energy agreement in Brussels in 2013. Both sides have cautious claims about network ownership in Kosovo.
