MiningSEE, Serbia: Ingrated quality managment system

, News

At the XI International Conference on Surface Mining – OMC 2014, held on Zlatibor, Mirjana Djurovic and Miladin Trbic presented the paper entitled Positive effects of an Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System of the EFT-Rudnik and Stanari Thermal Power Plant.
The authors stress that EFT Rudnik and Stanari Thermal Power Plant have by late 2006 introduced an integrated quality management system, environmental management system and an occupational health and safety system.
The paper presents some positive effects of this integrated system on overburden removal and coal production operations and environmental protection.
Implemented integrated quality management system, environmental management system, occupational health and safety system at the EFT Rudnik and Stanari Thermal Power Plant are based on two models: process and environmental. Both models were built on the actual system of the company and applied in practice. Consequently, the process model defines all the processes serving to define the environmental model, showing all possible environmental impacts occurring throughout the mining operations.
Implementation of a set of integrated systems had a significant impact both in terms of production results of the company and its environmental protection and occupational safety and health.
Based on these data we can conclude that the implementation or further development and improvement of an integrated quality and environmental management system at the EFT Rudnik and Stanari Thermal Power Plant has had a positive impact on the overall performance of mining operations and environmental protection.
Actual overburden removal and coal production levels in the period under review, with simultaneous identification of significant environmental aspects and implementation of the planned protection objectives and programs, indicate that the introduction of an integrated management system was justified.
