Modernization of SHPP Glava Zete in Montenegro leads to increased power output
, NewsModernization of SHPP Glava Zete is a part of a broader 8-million-euro project which included the modernization of SHPP Slap Zete, which was completed last year. Montenegrin state-owned power utility EPCG said that it has completed the modernization of its small hydro power plant (SHPP) Glava Zete. The plant is operated through a joint venture with Norwegian company NTI, in which EPCG holds majority stake.
General Manager of the joint venture company – Zeta Energy Dragan Vlahovic said that the modernization led to a 30 % increase in power output, which will boost average annual electricity generation to 20.5 GWh, compared to 14.6 GWh before the overhaul. SHPP Glava Zete has installed capacity of 4.5 MW, while SHPP Slap Zete has 1.2 MW.
EPCG also said that it has replaced two of five block transformers at HPP Perucica, under a contract signed with Sever-Nikcom-Koncar GIM consortium. Transformers replacement, worth 2.25 million euros, will mostly be carried out during regular overhauls of the plant and are expected to be completed by the end of 2021. Along with the revitalization of all six generators, this will extend the HPP’s operational life by additional 30 years.
