Natural Energy System plans to build first wind farm in Albania
, NewsAccording to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, Natura Energy System has expressed interest to invest in a wind farm. There are still no wind farms in Albania. Precise data of the potential for wind energy is not available but very promising areas for investments in the sector are near the Adriatic coast.
Albania-based Natural Energy System is interested in the construction of a 3 MW wind farm near the city of Fier, 30 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea coast, in the southwestern part of the country. The company has filed the application for the construction of a wind farm with an installed capacity of 3 MW in the area of Semanit in Fier municipality, the ministry said.
In July, Albania-based Spark Wind filed an application for a 3 MW wind farm near the city of Himare, located 10 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea, also in the country’s southwest.
The construction of wind farms of up to 3 MW is not subject to concession. According to the local media, such power plants can be built only with the consent of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. Larger facilities must win the approval of the Albanian government.
