Rio Sava invites NGOs and the general public to a dialogue on the lithium mine

The invitation to attend the meeting was sent to the addresses of over 40 non-governmental organizations in Serbia.

Rio Sava, part of Rio Tinto, announced that it would organize an open online meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the general public on April 21, 2021, on permits to open a lithium mine near Loznica and a feasibility study.

“In order to continue transparent communication and open dialogue with all stakeholders, Rio Sava invites representatives of non-governmental organizations, but also the general public to an open meeting,” the statement said.

It is added that the topics of the meeting will be the process of obtaining permits for the construction of mines in Serbia, as well as the progress in the preparation of studies on environmental impact assessment, which are a key part of the process of obtaining permits.

The participants of the meeting will, as it is stated, have the opportunity to learn first hand, from the representatives of Rio Sava, as well as the experts working on the project, at what stage the project “Jadar” is currently when it comes to obtaining permits. this process, as well as how the public in Serbia can be involved in the further development of the project.

“Transparency, information and dialogue with all interested parties on issues of interest during the development of the ‘Jadar’ project are of great importance for our company,” the statement reads.
