A Canadian company has found deposits of boron ore in Serbia

, News

Erin Ventures is a Canadian company that found large reserves of boron ore in the Piskanj region, not far from the abandoned coal mines near Baljevac on the Ibar. It is estimated that the gross value of these deposits is more than two billion dollars.

They have concluded a contract with a company from their country, “Temas”, which will invest 10.5 million euros in the next four years in exchange for half of the ownership. According to a preliminary feasibility study, this mine could be in operation for 21 years. During that period, 11 million tons of boron could be obtained from here, which is used in space technology and the industry for the production of mobile phones. The company “Temas” is also looking for rare elements such as titanium and vanadium.

“Erin” entered the drilling program near Baljevac on the Ibar after the multinational company “Rio Tinto” gave up the concession in that area.

By the way, “Rio Tinto”, along with the Turkish state company “Eti Maden”, controls as much as 80 percent of the world’s pine production. The largest part of pine reserves, as much as 75%, is located in Turkey.

The discovery of the Canadian “Erin” now puts Serbia among the countries with large reserves of this ore.
