A Chinese company, the owner of a steel producer in Serbia, claims that the black dust that covered the Smederevo area was caused by the transshipment of ore
, NewsHBIS Group Serbia, a Chinese company which owns the Smederevo steel producer, says that the appearance of dark dust in the settlements located in the immediate vicinity of the ironwork in Smederevo was due to the transshipment of ore.
On the night between July 29 and 30, an incident occurred, according to HBIS, for which, as they explain, the meteorological conditions are to blame, ie the drop in pressure and wind. This caused ground dust to spread to nearby houses.
A few days earlier, on July 24, the plant in Smederevo started using agro ore from a new supplier from Turkey, which is a smaller structure than the one used so far, the HBIS Group explains. That is why, as they claim, in addition to the measures they are implementing, they have introduced new ones, which should prevent dust as a precaution.
They claim that the strengthened control of transshipment, as well as additional wetting during the manipulation of this ore, showed a result, which was obviously not the case on Wednesday as well.
The Chinese company points out that after this incident, they intensified all measures in order to eliminate ground dust, which dissipates under certain meteorological conditions.
In addition, in the future, agloruda will be unloaded only during the day. In that way, as they claim for H1, monitoring of meteorological parameters, which can affect the spread of dust, will be the best.
