Germany’s RWE eyes solar project in Croatia through JV with HEP
, NewsCroatia’s state power utility Hrvatska Elektroprivreda expects to launch works on the Kosinj hydropower plant by the end of 2018, while it plans a wind and a solar project in 2019, HEP board member Petar Sprčić has told a conference in Zagreb, noting that he cannot reveal the names of the projects in question.
At the same conference, Zoran Miliša, CEO of RWE Energija, a Croatian subsidiary of German energy company RWE, said that RWE Energija and HEP have discussed investing in a solar power plant through their joint venture set up in 2015.
Miliša hinted at Dalmatia as the likely location of the solar plant.
According to Sprčić, HEP’s supervisory board should also adopt an investment decision concerning the EL-TO Zagreb gas-fired combined-cycle cogeneration plant project.
“We are intent on boosting production from renewable energy sources by 50% through 2030, and to achieve this target, we will buy some and develop some wind and solar projects,” Sprčić said.
