International “Pannonia-Adria Connection” – the beginning of the project

The project is funded by the European Union under the IPA Cross-border Cooperation Program Croatia – Bosnia and Herzegovina – Montenegro 2014-2020. The implementation of the project officially started on October 15, 2020 and will last for 24 months.

Public Enterprise for National Parks of Montenegro, in cooperation with partner organizations from Croatia – Municipality of Nijemci, Bosnia and Herzegovina – City of Tuzla and Association for Development NERDA, as well as from Montenegro – NGO “Center for Protection and Study of Birds of Montenegro”, in for the next two years it will implement the Pannonia-Adria Connection (PA.CON) project.

In order to define the activities that will take place intensively in the territories of the three countries in the next 24 months within the PA.CON project, on November 13, the first online meeting of representatives of the Public Company for National Parks of Montenegro with partners was held.

Project activities in Montenegro that will be implemented in the Skadar Lake National Park in order to improve the protection and promotion of the bird’s wealth, plan to adapt the Visitor Center in Vranjina and Virpazar, set up a raft for pelican nesting and two birdwatching observatories in Radus and Stanaj. formation of a promenade on Virpazar, marking of the Virpazar-Ckla bicycle path, procurement of technical equipment, electric bicycles and solar stations for the same, and installation of a 3D sign on Vranjina.

The general goal of the project is to contribute to the development of sustainable tourism in the target region of Croatia, BiH and Montenegro, by using and activating unused natural resources and goods related to ornitho fauna.

Specifically, by creating a joint tourist offer related to ornitho fauna and natural resources, this project will strengthen and diversify the tourist offer through cross-border access and enable sustainable use of natural heritage in the cross-border region.
