Macedonia mining: Lead-zinc mines taken over by Bulgarian Minstroj
, NewsThe Bulgarian company “Minstroj” is the new concessionaire of the Macedonian mines for lead and zinc “Toranica” and “Zletovo”, the Government of Macedonia has decided.
Macedonian Deputy Minister of Economy, Hristijan Delev, said that the Bulgarian “Ministroj”, the Russian “Solvej” and the Construction Institute had participated in the tender.
The Bulgarian company has taken the Macedonian mines under concession for a period of 30 years, and it will pay two million euros per year for the concessions respectively.
In the previous period, the Macedonian mines had been managed by the Indian company “Indominerals”, but in November last year, the Ministry of Economy terminated the contract unilaterally because the concession fee for exploiting mineral resources had not been paid, and the mines went bankrupt.
