On July 23, 2019, the Montenegrin Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism requested in a letter that an “Environmental Impact Assessment Study for the construction project of the Buk Bijela hydropower plant on the Drina River with relevant technical documentation” be submitted in order to implement all requirements of the Espoo Convention. “on cross-border impact on the environment, but the documentation was not submitted to Montenegro even after the urgency to the competent department of the Republic of Srpska.

Also, the Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO in June this year addressed the State Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a request to submit all relevant documentation and information on the project, so that Montenegro could see the impact on the Tara River Canyon and Durmitor National Park, however, the answer has not yet arrived.
