A loan of up to EUR 5 million is now available to individuals, residents’ associations, producers, service providers, suppliers and vendors of green technologies for energy efficiency investments in residential sector.

The funds are provided by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and will be distributed through services of MKF Partner, a microfinance institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The finance is secured under the bank’s EUR 85 million Green Economy Financing Facility for the Western Balkans. Incentives and technical cooperation in support of green technology investments will be provided by the European Union, Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance and the European Western Balkans Joint Fund under the Western Balkans Investment Framework,” the EBRD said in a statement.

According to bank, EUR 5 million will be lended to individuals, residents’ associations, producers, service providers, suppliers and vendors of green technologies for investments that modernise existing housing stock and support the implementation of sustainable energy technologies.

The new EUR 5 million loan follows a previous investment, made in 2017, making a total of EUR 22 million available towards green residential loans in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In June last year EBRD secured two loans for the housing energy efficiency projects.
