There are currently about 300 concessionaires in Republika Srpska, and based on the fee for the use of electric power facilities, 20.52 million KM (10.42 million euros) was poured into the budget of Srpska last year, said the president of the RS Concessions Commission, Radenko Đurica.

Đurica pointed out that, in addition to filling the republic budget, concessionaires employ the population in the municipalities where the concession is located and allocate money for local infrastructure.

“From year to year, most of the money is collected from the concession fee in the field of energy,” said Đurica.

He stated that out of the granted concessions for the construction and use of small hydro power plants, 27 of them were put into commercial operation, which contributes to a better supply of electricity to end consumers.

“The concession fee in our country is the lowest in the region, it amounts to about three percent of the total revenues, and I think that it should be at least twice as high, because the inflow of money would be higher.” In Serbia, the fee is 10 percent, in Montenegro 12 percent, and in Croatia 16 percent, so I think we should get closer to the countries of the region, “Djurica told Glas Srpske.

He stated that the Commission bases its activities in accordance with the document on the policy of awarding concessions and the Law on Concessions and gives consent to economic feasibility studies, documentation for public bidding, then a proposal for a decision on the selection of the most favorable bidder and other activities.

“When it comes to energy, we give consent for the construction, use or reconstruction of small hydro power plants of 250 kilowatts, oil pipelines, gas pipelines and other facilities for storage, transport and distribution of oil and gas and solar power plants,” said Đurica.
