Romanian do-it-yourself retailer Dedeman announced that it has installed solar panels on the roofs of its 28 stores, with the value of the investment exceeding 4 million euros.

The electricity produced through them will be intended exclusively for self-consumption, and the operational life of these panels will be at least 25 years. The total installed capacity at these 28 locations is over 7 MW and will provide approximately 30 % of the annual electricity consumption needed to carry out the activity of the stores.

Dedeman holds stakes in several companies in the Romanian energy sector. In 2018, it bought 550,000 shares of the national oil pipeline operator Conpet Ploiesti for some 15.5 million euros, thus increasing its stake in the company to 7.4 %. In 2017, Dedeman acquired additional 4.8 % of the shares of electricity transmission system operator Transelectrica, reaching a total stake of 5.5 %. It also bought additional stake in electricity distributor and supplier Electrica, reaching a stake of 5.76 % in the company.
