Serbia; City of Belgrade launches tendering to construct waste water treatment plant
, NewsThe Belgrade Construction and Land Directorate published a tender to plan and construct the waste water purification facility Međulužje in Mladenovac. The facility, worth an estimated RSD 96 million will process waste water which will then be released into the Jablanica river.
The suburb of Međulužje, which has a population of almost 6,000 people, does not have a sewage system and the construction of the waste water processing facility is the condition to build a sewage system, the authorities said earlier.
The waste water treatment plant in Međulužje will process waste water from the household sewage system and the purified water will then be released in the Jablanica river once the quality of that water is brought up to the standards required under the law, the Directorate said in a statement.
The offers submitted under the tender have to include a stage-by-stage construction of the facility in accord with the planned expanding of the sewer system network in the area to make sure the capacities are sufficient to meet the needs of future users.
The Belgrade Construction and Land Directorate also invited offers for the construction of a water supply system for the Oblačak kindergarten in the Padina suburb and a sewage system in the Zvezdara forest park.
Construction and Land Directorate chief Branislav Popović said his department had contracted the construction of two smaller waste water processing plants in the villages of Pinosava and Beli Potok just outside the city.
We have had some RSD 9.3 billion earmarked for all our projects this year which means that the trend of investing in traffic, road, sewer and water supply networks will continue, Popović said.
Belgrade is one of the few cities in Europe which do not have waste water purification facilities. The city authorities are planning to build five large facilities and the contract to build the first of those plants at Veliko Selo was signed late in November 2017 by between the City of Belgrade and the Chinese company CMEC.
The other four waste water purification facilities should be built in the suburbs of Krnjača, Batajnica, Vinča and Ostružnica. The construction of all five waste water processing plants should cost around EUR 500 million.
