Serbia: Government adopts regulation on environmental tax
, NewsThe Government has adopted the Decree on criteria for determining activities that affect the environment according to the degree of negative impact on the environment arising from the activities, the amounts of benefits, as well as criteria that are relevant for the environmental impact of individuals.
– Compensation for environmental pollution, within the prescribed limit values, based on the “polluter pays” principle, ensures the achievement of economic goals of legal entities, entrepreneurs and individuals, but this covers only a small segment of environmental protection – the Government website states.
This regulation prescribes instruments that provide funds for these purposes, based on the economic strength of legal entities, entrepreneurs and natural persons and environmental solidarity, ie the principle of shared responsibility for the protection and promotion of the environment.
